My grandmother passed on.. I am in denial & avoidance mode, as I prepare to get on a plane & go to the funeral.
YAY! my mind otherwise would be roiling with uncontrolable emotion.. but when traveling, I say:
Avoid, Deny and Relax.
play some video games, eat some peanuts... you know wait for death to catch up with you later :)

Re: grandma died
Wed, July 20, 2005 - 2:32 PMI think it kinda happens that way anyway - first you're in shock/denial, then it hits you later. Hang in there, girl - our thoughts are with you!

Re: grandma died
Wed, July 20, 2005 - 4:32 PMCecili,
My heart goes out to you. i think you are doing the best to deal with your pain, rather than avoiding. By threading here, you are affirming your willingness to work through your feelings and move on. i haven't even looked at your profile, but your action tells me that you have strength and heart.

i usually think of the tribe as dealing with denial and avoidance of our unconscious or semi-conscious behaviors and motivations, but we are happy to discuss all forms of this topic. -

Re: grandma died
Thu, August 4, 2005 - 11:15 PMCecili, I know this is hard for you but I am sure your grandmother lived a wonderful live. You will get through it.
When my mom died, I had grieved for nearly two years because of a stroke she couldn't talk to me. That was heartbreaking. Now when I think of her, I usually laugh out loud. She was a riot and that is the way I like to remember her.
You will also find that you will remember the wonderful things about her and they will soothe your heart. :)
